Iron chief throws down goals gauntlet to hitman

Nigel Adkins has challenged Scunthorpe striker Jonathan Forte to build on his brace at Crystal Palace with more regular goals.
The Iron boss singled out the frontman for special praise after United stunned the Eagles 4-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday with Forte leading the line impressively. It marks a huge turnaround in fortunes for Forte who looked like he could be on his way out of Glanford Park when he was loaned to Notts County last season.
"Jonathan has got the ability to do what he did week in, week out for us," Adkins told his club's official website.
"He led the line on his own, did what was required for the team and played very well for us.
"Hopefully he can keep it up because he was certainly an asset for us at Palace."
