O'Connor to seal iron move

Scunthorpe United, 12:54, July 3, 2009 ,

Scunthorpe are closing in on the signing of Crewe midfielder Michael O'Connor after having a fee accepted.

Iron boss Nigel Adkins is a big fan of the 21-year-old, who fell out with Alex manager Gudjon Thordarson and was loaned out to Lincoln City at the end of last season. And, despite the possibility of a reconciliation this summer, O'Connor is now set for a move to Glanford Park for a chance to play in the Championship.
A Scunthorpe statement read: "United have had an undisclosed bid accepted by Crewe for their midfielder Michael O'Connor."
It added: "The club now have permission to talk to the Northern Ireland international."
Meanwhile the Iron have missed out on Walsall defender Anthony Gerrard, who has completed his move to Cardiff.
