Scunthorpe seal Jones deal
Scunthorpe United, 12:41, July 9, 2009 ,
Hibs skipper Rob Jones has completed a move to Scunthorpe in a deal thought to be worth around £350,000, which could rise to £500,000.
The defender has been at the centre of speculation all summer and although Hibs boss John Hughes was hopeful of persuading him to stay at Easter Road, Jones has decided to move back south or the border.
Jones, formerly of Stockport and Grimsby, had been linked with Nottingham Forest and Leeds but Championship new-boys Scunthorpe have won the race for his signature.
The 29-year-old has penned a three-year contract and told the Iron's website: "It feels great to sign for Scunthorpe. It's nice to be back in England. I was interested in coming here and now I've cemented that."
He added: "I wouldn't have moved to the club I didn't think it could stay in the Championship.
"I've played against Scunthorpe twice in the past so I have experience against them. I know plenty about the club and I'm glad to be a part of it."
