Sharp issues apology
Scunthorpe United, 12:36, September 28, 2009 ,
Former Scunthorpe striker Billy Sharp has apologised for his wild goal celebration when he put Doncaster 2-0 up.
Sharp made his name with the Iron during a two-season stay before being re-signed by Sheffield United two years ago.
However, he failed to cut it back at the Blades and has been loaned out to Rovers - scoring his first goal for them in Saturday's 2-2 draw.
Sharp was on the receiving end of some abuse from his former fans prior to getting on the scoresheet but has still said sorry for his shirt-waving antics.
He told the Iron's website: "I didn't want to celebrate but I was getting some stick from the fans. I don't mind that but I didn't think I deserved it and I was just giving some back.
"I had two of my best seasons here and might not have seasons like that again but I'd like to apologise to the fans. It was just a bit of banter as they were giving me a lot of stick."
