Cesena coach Mario Beretta felt his side showed "great character" after their 1-0 defeat to Juventus saw them relegated from Serie A.
The Sea Horses' latest defeat means they are stranded 14 points from safety with only four games to go and they will play in Serie B next season. Marco Borriello netted the only goal of the game on 79 minutes to keep the Old Lady at the top of the standings and condemn Cesena to the drop, but Beretta was content with the effort of his charges and feel they will go down with their heads held high "We put in a great performance and it's a shame, as we were holding on to Juventus despite the strong pressure," he said. "We had to use up two substitutions due to injury and that weighed on us. I must compliment my side on their approach. "The fans asked us to show great character and that is what we did, so we were pleased at their applause at the end of the game."
