Guerini to step in after Fiorentina fire Rossi
Vincenzo Guerini is set to step in and coach Fiorentina for the rest of the season after the dismissal of Delio Rossi on Wednesday.
Rossi was relieved of his duties at the Viola after physically attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic as he returned to the dug-out following a verbal disagreement. Fiorentina went on to draw 2-2 with Novara but all the talk after the match was the incident that marred the game and led to the 51-year-old coach's dismissal. The club's board wasted little time and, after a short meeting, announced their decision and Guerini, who already works for the club as a director, will take charge of his first training session later today. The 58-year-old has managed several clubs in his career, including Bologna, Brescia, Ancona and Napoli but he has not worn the tracksuit since a spell in charge of Catanzaro in the 2005-06 campaign.
