Von Bergen issues rallying cry

Palermo defender Steve von Bergen believes his side must improve their mental strength if they are to avoid relegation from Serie A.

The Sicilian outfit currently find themselves in 17th place in the table after a poor start to the campaign in the Italian top-flight. Von Bergen believes the introduction of new coach Gian Piero Gasperini has made a difference to the side but the 29-year-old is adamant the squad must address their attitude in games, if they are to starting climbing back up the Serie A table. He said: "Since Gasperini has joined us, we have become a tougher team to beat, but we still have to improve something mentally. Victories will improve our League position."
