Kilgallon's new option
Sheffield United, 14:57, January 21, 2010 ,
Sunderland are the latest club to enter the race for Sheffield United defender Matthew Kilgallon, who is out of contract in the summer.
Kilgallon has spoke of his desire to test himself in the Premier League and a host of clubs are believed to have made enquiries about the Blades star.
However, despite interest from Bolton, Wigan, Wolves, Burnley, Everton and Championship league leaders Newcastle United Kilgallon announced earlier this month he intended to remain at Bramall Lane until the end of the season.
Kilgallon's current deal expires in the summer meaning he will be free to find another club, though he may agree to stay with the Blades if they secure promotion.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is hoping to test Sheffield United's resolve by lodging a £1.75million bid in the hope of signing Kilgallon before the current transfer window closes in a bid to beat the competition for his signature.
