Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has eased his defensive injury crisis by signing Fulham's Finland international Toni Kallio on loan.
The 31-year-old, who can play centre-back or left back, has not made a first-team appearance for Fulham this season and has struggled to make an impact since moving to Craven Cottage in 2008.He arrives at Bramall Lane until December 23, in time for a couple of days training and could go straight into the side to play Bristol City on Saturday.
Blackwell told the club's official website: "He is a big, strong player and the reports we have had on him playing for Fulham reserves suggest that he has done quite well."
Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme joined the Blades in a similar loan arrangement earlier in the day.
