Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is expecting to have to rebuild his squad during the summer.
The Blades have released 11 players after narrowly missing out on an instant return to the npower Championship and as yet have not made any new signings.
"It could well be that there are a lot of changes, not out of choice, but it could be that way," Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"In an ideal world we'd keep most of the squad together, but it's not likely that will happen. We have budgets and we'll need to look at them to see who we can bring in, if anybody."
Wilson is hoping out-of-contract midfielders Lee Williamson and Kevin McDonald will both agree new deals.
Meanwhile, Wilson does not expect defender Chris Morgan to feature as a player next season. The 34-year-old did not play during the last campaign due to a serious knee injury and instead was installed as reserve team coach.
