County keen on Owls ace

Notts County are reported to have joined the race to sign Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood.

Wood is on the transfer list after turning down a new deal at Hillsborough and the Magpies are now said to be in the hunt as they seek a replacement for Sol Campbell.

County would have the finances to wrap up a deal but Wood would have to drop down to League Two and with both Coventry and Ipswich interested, he may hold out for one of those two.

There is sure to be a scramble for the player's signature when the transfer window opens, but Wednesday will not be willing to do business unless someone matches their £700,000 valuation.
