Laws happy with start

Sheffield Wednesday, 17:41, June 17, 2009 ,

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws is delighted with the opening-day clash with Barnsley and cannot wait for the Newcastle games.

Wednesday kick off with a home game against the Tykes on August 8th and Laws is keen to make up for the 1-0 defeat against Simon Davey's men at Hillsborough last season.
"It's a fantastic fixture to start the season and it's important for us to be at home," Davey revealed. "It will also be important for us to get off to a good start and if we can do that against one of our local rivals then all the better."
The third match of the season sees a trip to St James' Park and Newcastle, with the return at Hillsborough on Boxing Day.
Laws added: "We're playing Newcastle early in the season and that is a good thing because the teams coming down from the Premier League are likely to still be adapting to life in the Championship.
"The fact that we're playing Newcastle at home on Boxing Day is also a great fixture to look forward to and almost guarantees a sell-out crowd."
