Midfielder hopes for Owls deal

Sheffield Wednesday, 10:38, January 25, 2010 ,

Stoke midfielder Tom Soares is looking for his loan spell to be extended after an enjoyable two month stint at Sheffield Wednesday.

The 23-year-old is getting fitter with every game and has played a big part in the Owls revival under new manager Alan Irvine.
He made his eighth and final appearance for the Owls in Saturday's 2-1 win over Peterborough at Hillsborough.
In contrast, Soares hasn't figured in a Premier League fixture for the Potters since December 2008 and that's a situation he is far from happy with.
He told the Owls official website, "Every player wants to play football. I've got no doubt in my ability and coming here and playing for Wednesday is good for me.
"As a club, we're all starting to perform and hopefully we can climb that league table. Obviously if I go back to Stoke and I'm not playing I'd definitely like to come back.
"We'll have to sit down and have a word with Tony Pulis and see what happens from there, but I'm hopeful I can extend my stay here."
Soares was loaned out last season by City to Charlton after finding his opportunities limited following his move from Crystal Palace.
