No City switch for Grant

Sheffield Wednesday, 15:26, June 12, 2009 ,

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has dismissed reports keeper Lee Grant is set for a £1.5million move to Manchester City.

The 26-year-old keeper has just signed a new three-year deal with the South Yorkshire side and Laws has rubbished claims Manchester City are set to sign him as cover for Shay Given, with current number two Joe Hart expected to make a switch to Birmingham City in the coming days.
"Lee has just signed a new contract. He is settled, and we have said many times he is not for sale. Manchester City have not made any contact with us." Laws told the Sheffield Star. "It's nice to know that we have players who have the ability to play at a higher level, and people are recognising that fact.
"It has been proved that it was a smart move when we signed Lee from a club where he was not first choice. We knew he had the potential, and he has started to show what he is all about."
