Spurr in race to face Sky Blues

Sheffield Wednesday, 17:30, November 19, 2008

Defender Tommy Spurr has admitted to being a big injury doubt for Sheffield Wednesday's visit of Coventry City on Saturday.

The 21-year-old, who has been an ever-present in the Owls side this season, suffered a dead leg against Derby and he is now a doubt for the match at Hillsborough this weekend.

Spurr told the club's official website: "I took three whacks to the leg at Derby and the muscle is sore at the moment, particularly when I bend the leg.

"We'll have to see how things go over the next couple of days because obviously I don't want to miss a game."

Spurr's injury is the latest problem for boss Brian Laws as he is also waiting on the fitness of Akpo Sodje, Etienne Esajas and Wade Small ahead of the Sky Blues clash.
