Turner to assess defensive duo

Shrewsbury duo Reuben Hazell and Darren Jones are major doubts for the trip to Championship side Leeds in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The defenders are struggling with calf problems which have hampered their pre-season involvement. Hazell has sat out the past three friendly fixtures while Jones has also missed the last week of training. Manager Graham Turner may have to consider a defensive reshuffle but is hoping at least one of them can win their fitness battle in time for the weekend. "I'm not sure if Hazell has had enough training and game time and Darren has not trained all this week yet but we will have a look at them both over the next few days," Turner told the Shropshire Star.
