Allen fightback restricts Higgins
Snooker, 10:16, May 2, 2009 ,
John Higgins is just two frames from claiming a fourth World Championship final place after edging to a 15-9 lead over Mark Allen.
Higgins stuttered towards another final, as Allen hit back to win six of the eight frames to give himself an outside chance of hauling back the Scot's big lead which stood at 13-3 going into Friday's play.
Two-time world champion Higgins lost the opener but hit back with a break of 85, before Allen snatched the next two frames to trail 14-6.
Allen then won three of the final four games of the night to emerge a creditable six frames behind at 15-9, ahead of Saturday's resumption.
In the other semi-final, Shaun Murphy has a 9-7 lead over Neil Robertson following their second session in Sheffield.
