Allen too strong for Higgins

Snooker, 10:19, January 14, 2010 ,

Reigning world champion John Higgins is out of the Masters at Wembley after being beaten 6-3 by Mark Allen.

Higgins started well and took the opening frame before Allen raced into a 3-1 lead, with the pair sharing the next four frames before the Northern Irishman powered to victory.
Allen will now meet Mark Selby on Friday with the Leicester man triumphant last year over him at the same stage.
Meanwhile, Ryan Day also went through to the quarter finals by whitewashing Joe Perry, who is still yet to win a game at the Masters in five attempts.
