Higgins claims Cope epic

Snooker, 09:41, April 28, 2009 ,

John Higgins edged a 13-12 thriller against Jamie Cope to set up a World Championship quarter-final clash with Mark Selby.

Two-time champion Higgins was trailing 12-10 but produced a stunning late show to win three frames in a row and book his place in the last eight of the competition.
The final frame at The Crucible was made all the dramatic when play was stopped at a time when Higgins had a pot to take charge because a spectator required medical treatment.
"I was really proud of myself to come back from 12-10 to 12 each," said Higgins.
"I was pleased that I didn't capitulate the way I did last year [against Ryan Day]."
The Wizard of Wishaw added: "My wife sent me a few texts as if to say get my finger out, and let Jamie try to win the match, don't give it to him too easily."
