Murphy makes Hendry pay at Masters
Snooker, 09:41, January 12, 2010 ,
Shaun Murphy said he was delighted to see off new fans' favourite Stephen Hendry to reach the 2010 Masters quarter-finals.
Six-time champion Hendry hit the first century of the tournament with a 114 but still found himself trailing 4-2 to the 2005 world champion.
Murohy, 27, overcame a bout of nerves to add a ton of his own on his way to a gripping 6-4 win at Wembley Arena.
Murphy told the World Snooker website: "The majority of the crowd were supporting Stephen. The tide has turned since the 1990s when people wanted him to lose. Now he's a legend.
"When I went to the table and people shouted 'come on Stephen', that was free inspiration for me."
