Selby aims to blast Rocket in Masters final

Snooker, 11:37, January 17, 2010 ,

Mark Selby defeated Stephen Maguire to set up a Masters final showdown against Ronnie O'Sullivan for the second successive year.

The 27-year-old was pegged back to 3-3 by Maguire in their tight semi-final before he edged ahead thanks to a break of 91. Selby then won the last two frames to ensure a repeat of the 2009 final which O'Sullivan won 10-8.
The loss to 'The Rocket' last year was Selby's only defeat in 11 matches at Wembley and he is now gunning to reclaim the title on Sunday.
"I've only lost one match here, and hopefully after Sunday I'll still have only lost one," he told World Snooker.
"I played well in the final last year, I just missed a chance to go 9-8 up. I'm not playing as well as I was then, my break-building need to be more consistent."
Maguire added: "I was pathetic, I had so many chances but I couldn't do it. Mark was just a bit better.
"But I've not got the ammunition at the moment. There's something missing, my cue action is not great. I'm hitting everything thick and I can't pot anything over six foot."
Selby has played down O'Sullivan's recent claims that he has played badly throughout the tournament and does not deserve his place in the final. And the 'Jester from Leicester' knows he will have to be on top form to deny his rival a fifth Masters crown.
He said: "He said that [he played badly] after he made a 147 against me in the (2007) UK Championship.
"His B game is good enough to beat a lot of players. He played well against [Mark] Williams."
