Sunday form was the key - Higgins

Snooker, 10:59, May 5, 2009 ,

John Higgins feels the second session was the key to his World Championship success over Shaun Murphy at the Crucible.

The Scot became part of a select group of players to win three or more titles in the modern era and the second oldest winner of the tournament at the age of 34 - Dennis Taylor remains the oldest at 36.
Higgins, who scored 11 centuries in the tournament, joins Ronnie O'Sullivan and the late John Spencer on three titles each and he believes the closing stages of Sunday made the difference.
The Glaswegian held an 11-5 advantage going into Monday's play and admitted: "The second session made the difference really.
"Shaun missed a couple of balls he normally wouldn't miss and I just managed to get in there and pinch a couple of frames.
"I got a good run of the balls in that session and that is what swung it my way."
Higgins has regained a place among the top four of the official world rankings following his victory in Sheffield, while runner-up Murphy remains at number three.
