Adkins wants midfielder

Nigel Adkins is looking to add to his squad ahead of the new season by bringing in Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez.

The Uruguayan International turned down a move to Tottenham earlier in the summer and interest in his signature has been widespread around the Premier League, with a number of other clubs also monitoring him. The 21-year-old, scored eight goals from midfield last season, has been one of the most talked about players during this transfer window. The youngster enhanced his reputation even more over the summer as one of the stand out players during the Olympic games. Spurs reportedly had a bid accepted by the club but could not agree with the player on wage demands. Southampton are now looking to pull off a coup by bringing Ramirez to St Mary's, but face some stiff competition from Inter Milan and Liverpool for his signature.
