Cork blow for Saints
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has admitted Jack Cork faces a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The midfielder, who has only just returned to Saints following his involvement in the Team GB squad at the Olympics, suffered the injury in Southampton's 1-1 draw at Bristol City on Tuesday. Cork will have a scan on his ankle at the end of the week to determine the extent of the injury, but Adkins admits the 23-year-old could well be set for a spell on the sidelines. "He's going to have a spell on the sidelines," Adkins told Radio Solent. Adkins added: "It's not ideal as that was his first pre-season game back for the club and we wanted to get more from him."
