Kevin Keegan is not the only manager Matthew Le Tissier has sounded out over the Southampton job, the Saints legend claims.
Le Tissier is still hoping his Pinnacle Consortium can iron out the details to complete a takeover at St Mary's although a second group is said to be waiting in the wings.
In the meantime, speculation linking Keegan with another stunning return to the game has emerged although Le Tissier is keen to play it down.
He told Sky Sports News: "Kevin is not the only one I have sat down and talked to. I have sat down and talked to a lot of my contacts in the game.
"We need to clarify the manager's position and we will look at that, I have spoken to a lot of people and taken a lot of advice and when the takeover is complete we will sit down and talk about it."
Le Tissier added: "For me this is a new job and I need to gather as much information as I can and there are several other people I have spoken to and no decision on a new manager has been made.
"Unfortunately Kevin was pictured and the papers got hold of it and everyone put two and two together."
