Saints fear Butland inflation

Southampton fear Jack Butland's shock Euro 2012 call-up will lead to Birmingham City hiking up his price this summer.

Saints scouted Blues keeper Butland, 19, three times last season while he was out on loan at League Two promotion chasers Cheltenham.
The 6ft 4in youngster has yet to make a single senior appearance for Birmingham, but that won't stop St Andrew's officials from pushing his price up after he was bizarrely called up by Roy Hodgson for the England squad.
Southampton are looking for cover for 35-year-old first-choice Kelvin Davis and view Butland as someone who can potentially challenge for the shirt if he continues his rapid progress.
Birmingham and England goalkeeping coach Dave Watson, who has worked with ex-Blues keepers Joe Hart and Ben Foster, rates Butland as potentially better than both of them.
