Saints foiled in Ramirez swoop

Southampton look set to miss out on Bologna star Gaston Ramirez, as Inter Milan have entered the battle for his signature.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins had been confident of securing the services of the highly-rated 21-year-old, but it would now appear as if the Uruguayan is set to remain in Serie A.
Liverpool have also been credited with an interest, but the player's agent has indicated Ramirez is keen to remain in Italy and the Nerazzurri are planning to launch an €11million (£8.7m) move for the versatile forward in the coming days.
Adkins will now have to look elsewhere if he is to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month, with Inter the new favourites to sign Ramirez.
