Saints star seeks specialist verdict on injury

Southampton, 15:17, September 12, 2008 ,

Unlucky Saints defender Michael Svensson is to see a specialist amid fears his injury jinx has struck again.

Svensson has been plagued by a series of knee problems over the last three years but confounded many experts this season by making a shock return to first-term action at the St Mary's Stadium.
The former Swedish international has started four matches so far this season but recently complained of some pain during training and has now returned to his homeland to seek the all-clear from a specialist before he can resume training again.
Svensson is optimistic about the outcome of his visit, though, and told the club's website: "I think everything will be okay, but of course we will know more after I've seen the specialist.
"I've been keeping fit during the international break and doing the rehab programme I was given in Italy, but it'll be good to get the verdict of the original surgeon too."
