Saints to make £3.5m stopper bid
Nigel Adkins is reportedly set to test Blackburn's resolve to keep defender Scott Dann by making a £3.5million bid for the player.
The Southampton boss has been linked with a swoop for the 25-year-old centre-back since the end of June when it emerged that the player wanted to quit Ewood Park following Rovers' relegation from the Premier League last season.
Fellow top-flight new boys West Ham and Dutch giants Ajax have also been linked in the past week, while Rovers have insisted that they will not sell Dann unless a club agrees to match the £6million buy-out clause inserted into his contract when he joined from Birmingham 12 months ago.
But with Dann making it clear that he has no intentions of playing Championship football, it appears the Saints will try and secure his services for a lower feel in the knowledge that Rovers boss Steve Kean will not want an unhappy player on his books at Ewood Park when the new season gets underway in just under four weeks' time.
