Full-back Rudi Skacel has admitted that he will probably leave Southampton in the summer when his current contract expires.
The Czech Republic midfielder has been used as a left-back this season by coach Jan Poortvliet, while no talks have yet opened with regards to keeping him at St Mary's beyond the end of the campaign. Therefore Skacel, who feels Dutch tactician, Poortvliet, uses too many young and inexperienced players in his starting line ups, is facing an uncertain future.
When asked what his stance is at the club is he told deniksport.cz: "Honestly, I don't know.
"Last summer they told me that if I didn't leave I wouldn't be playing. And then at one point they moved me from the reserves to the first team.
"I have played in 17 games in a row. I don't know what kind of role is that.
"I am one of the three older players who were in the team two years ago when Southampton were battling for promotion.
"There is plenty of talented and skillful lads in the team but if nine are picked into the starting line-up then that's too many.
"Suddenly they wanted me to play, so I have been playing. It is clear that we have a big task ahead of us as it will be a fight until the last round."
On his own future, he added: "We will see what happens. If there is an offer, then I would like to experience something new. If there is any interesting option for me, then I will go.
"It is too early to return home. I am still young and would like to play in a high-quality European league."
