Southampton line up £9m shot stopper
Southampton are thought to be weighing up whether to make a move for free agent Craig Gordon as they consider dropping Kelvin Davis.
The Saints have conceded 14 goals in their first four matches in the Premier League, leaking six at Arsenal on Saturday in their worst performance to date since promotion.
Current first choice shot stopper Davis has come in for some criticism for his performances this season and while Nigel Adkins is keen to stand by his club captain his is considering a replacement.
With the transfer window shut Southampton can only go for free agents, making Gordon the obvious choice following his release from Sunderland in the summer.
The Scottish shot stopper has had his problems with injuries recently but has claimed to be over those issues and is ready to get back to work.
Southampton only named 23 players on their 25-man Premier League squad list so could include the once £9million shot stopper in their set up for the remainder of the campaign.
