Spurs ace in £7.5m Saints link

Southampton have been linked with a possible £7.5million January transfer window swoop for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.

Under-fire Saints boss Nigel Adkins is desperate to bolster his beleaguered backline in the New Year as the side have already shipped 24 goals in eight Premier League games so far this term. And it appears that 28-year-old Dawson could be the top target as he continues to sit in the shadows at White Hart Lane under Andre Villas-Boas this season. The centre-half has made just three appearances for Spurs this campaign, and played only one minute in the Premier League, after a proposed summer move to QPR collapsed. Therefore, Dawson would no doubt be tempted by the prospect of regular first-team football at St Mary's while the Saints would no doubt be willing to meet his wage demands in order to boost their survival aspirations in the second half of the season.
