Stopper calls for stingy Saints

Maya Yoshida has admitted that Southampton must improve defensively if they are going to avoid a season of Premier League struggle.
The 24-year-old Japan international defender was left frustrated at the weekend after the Saints threw away the lead handed to them by £12million record signing Gaston Ramirez to end up losing 3-1 against Everton at Goodison Park.
Shoddy marking allowed Leon Osman and Nikica Jelavic to head home two of the clinical goals in the defeat.
Saints, who sit just outside the relegation zone, have the worst defensive record in the top-flight having conceded 18 goals in their first six matches and Yoshida has demanded an improvement.
"We need some improvements, especially defensively from crossing," Yoshida said.
"We made too many mistakes - it was too easy to lose the ball in midfield so we have to change this. We lost too quickly and too easily against Everton, I think."
