Svensson ready to return
Southampton, 15:34, September 19, 2008 ,
Michael Svensson is ready to return to the Southampton side for the clash with Barnsley after visiting his surgeon in Sweden.
The defender played the first four games of the season after finally recovering from his long-term knee injury but was then forced out of Saints' last three games after reporting some pain in the same knee.
He decided to go and see his surgeon back in Sweden for advice and, after a postive meeting, the 32-year-old is set to return for the clash against the Tykes.
Fellow centre-half Ollie Lancashire will miss the game as he serves the second of his three-match ban following the red card he picked up against QPR while boss Jan Poortvliet has three players still on the long-term injury list.
Winger Lee Holmes is out for two months with knee-ligament damage while defender Wayne Thomas is also still struggling with a knee injury and experienced midfielder Jason Euell has a shoulder problem.
