Uruguay international on Adkins radar

Southampton are lining up an ambitious bid for Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez, who turned down a move to Tottenham this summer.

The 21-year-old Uruguay international has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer after impressing in Italy with Bologna, scoring eight goals last season.
Ramirez's stock rose even further with a number of fine performances at the Olympic Games, attracting the interest of Tottenham.
Spurs reportedly tabled a bid for Ramirez which was accepted by Bologna but the player himself was less than impressed with the wages offered and turned down the move.
Southampton are now looking to pull off a coup by bringing Ramirez to St Mary's, but face some stiff competition from Inter Milan and Liverpool for his signature.
