Rangers excluded from SPL fixtures

Rangers have been left out of the SPL fixtures for 2012-13 as uncertainty continues to surround their future in the top flight.
A mystery "Club 12" has instead taken their place in the fixture list, announced on Monday, with the decision on who will occupy the final place in the Premier League to be announced in the coming weeks. Either Rangers, reformed as newco Rangers, could retain their place in the SPL but if they are demoted to the Scottish Football League then either relegated Dunfermline or First Division runners-up Dundee could fill the gap. SPL secretary Iain Blair has explained the decision to leave Rangers out of the fixture list: "Following the failure of Rangers FC to exit administration via a CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement), we have received an application to register the transfer of their SPL share to a newco," he said. "Should it be rejected, then another club may be invited to join the SPL for season 2012/13."
