Buddies ace prepares for tough Accies test

St Mirren, 10:57, December 24, 2008 ,

Fit-again St Mirren striker Billy Mehmet is aiming to help his side to a fourth straight win and keep Hamilton bottom of the SPL table.

The 24-year-old returned from a toe injury to play in the final 20 minutes of last Saturday's 1-0 victory at Kilmarnock and he is now looking forward to Saturday's Love Street clash with Hamilton Academicals.
The Buddies are aiming to open up a seven-point gap between them and their opponents, while a fourth straight win would beat a top flight record that has stood since 1990.
Mehmet said: "Hamilton will be coming here to try to close the gap on us. But we know that, if we win, then we'll be seven points ahead of them and that's going to be our aim.
"We have to go into the game the same way that we have done during the last few weeks.
"That means starting brightly and passing the ball about.
"Hopefully, we can get that first goal because it makes a massive difference when you do it at this level.
"We know that Hamilton will come here and give it their all, so we'll have to be at our best come Saturday."
