Buddies points all that matter - MacPherson

St Mirren, 15:04, January 13, 2010 ,

Gus MacPherson admits he would like St Mirren to play better football but insists winning games is all he is currently focused on.

The Buddies secured a crucial three points on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen - a result which leaves them seventh in the SPL, just one point behind the Dons.
Chris Innes' goal was one of very few chances in the game and although MacPherson admits it was a scrappy affair, he knows its points that matter in a very tight league.
The Saints boss said: "With so many managers losing their jobs, it is all about getting results. The last two games at home have been really scrappy affairs, but that is a lot to do with the condition of the pitch."
MacPherson added: "I would rather win playing free-flowing, expansive football but that's not going to happen on that pitch. We'll take the win, they are precious in this division and hard-earned."
