Buddies release statement over bonus row talk
St Mirren, 16:09, February 9, 2010 ,
St Mirren's board of directors have denied the club's players are unhappy with their bonus for getting to the CIS Cup Final.
Rumours that the players have been handed just £1,000 each for making it to the Buddies' first domestic final for 23 years had circulated - a figure that was reportedly £600 less than the amount they received for getting into the semi-final of the competition.
St Mirren have confirmed they held talks with the players regarding the bonus but, in a statement, deny further talks are planned amid speculation some of the squad are unhappy with the amount.
The statement read: "The board of directors met a couple of weeks ago with representatives of the players and the manager.
"At this point the bonuses for the Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final and Scottish Cup fifth-round matches were discussed.
"To date the board have had no request for any further meetings with the players."
