Duo back to boost Saints

St Mirren, 11:34, December 3, 2008 ,

Midfielder Stephen O'Donnell and striker Tom Brighton have handed St Mirren a timely fitness boost by returning to first-team training.

O'Donnell has been out since the end of August with a knee ligament problem and Brighton has missed over two months with a similar ailment.
Saints boss Gus MacPherson told the Daily Record: "Stephen and Tom have joined in training which is pleasing and would have featured in a reserve game against Aberdeen before it was called off.
"They'll get a full week's training under their belts and we'll try to get a couple of games arranged so they can build their fitness up that way.
"Stephen had a knee problem which we couldn't get to the bottom of. He had a few scans and three injections and hopefully it won't flare up again.
"Tom had a knee ligament strain but he's worked hard with the physio and on his own to get back. Their return will give me more options as we've been short for the last six weeks."
