Gus delighted by Potter's magic recovery

St Mirren, 15:20, January 6, 2010 ,

St Mirren boss Gus McPherson says he is relieved John Potter's hamstring injury isn't as serious as first thought.

The Buddies captain was forced off during the first half of the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock last week and looked to be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, while Potter will probably miss the Scottish Cup game with Alloa at the weekend he should be fit for the remainder of St Mirren's January fixtures.
"Fortunately for John it is a strain and not a tear," said McPherson.
"There has already been improvement but with a muscle injury of any description you have to be careful.
"We want everyone available and fit during this upcoming run as we've another seven games this month and that's something we have to try and cope with.
"John is doubtful for the Alloa game but if he misses that one hopefully he will be back for the others."
