Saints ace faces selection task
St Mirren, 15:38, January 14, 2010 ,
Allan Johnston admits he is going to need to play at the peak of his form to get back into St Mirren's first team.
The veteran midfielder started his first game in three months in the Scottish Cup victory over Alloa and was then brought on as a substitute in Tuesday's 1-0 SPL win over Aberdeen.
Johnston accepts he will have to grab his rare chances with both hands in order to impress Buddies boss MacPherson and hold down a regular place.
The 36-year-old said: "It's going to be very difficult to get back into the first team and stay there because we have so many quality players in midfield. Basically, it's up to me to show what I can do whenever I'm given a chance."
