Veteran eyes Scotland chance

St Mirren, 16:32, November 9, 2009

St Mirren goalkeeper Paul Gallacher has been called up by Scotland for the friendly with Wales, five years after his last cap.

The Buddies shot-stopper has been handed the chance to join the national team squad after Craig Gordon fractured his forearm in Sunderland's defeat at Tottenham on Saturday.

Gallacher has eight international caps to his name, with the last of those coming against Estonia in 2004, and will hope to play a part in Cardiff this weekend.

The 30-year-old will battle it out with Cardiff City's David Marshall and Aberdeen's Jamie Langfield to see who is handed a starting role by boss George Burley.
