Stoke City news

Stoke face their first season in the Premier League in 2008-09, with the Potters last playing top flight football back in 1985.

The Potters first major trophy was in 1972, when they won the League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea. Stoke have also won the Football League Trophy on two occasions, in 1992 and 2000.

The Staffordshire outfit, managed by Tony Pulis, play their home games at the Britannia Stadium, having moved to the 28,000 all-seater stadium from the Victoria Ground in 1997.

Key players for the 2008 campaign include Dave Kitson, Seyi Olofinjana, Thomas Sorensen and Ryan Shawcross.

Legendary former Potters players include Sir Stanley Matthews, Gordon Banks, Alan Ball, Alan Hudson and Terry Conroy.
