Begovic in the bag for Potters

Stoke City, 17:52, February 1, 2010 ,

Stoke beat the deadline to complete the signing of Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in a £3.5million deal.

The deal looked to be off earlier on Monday when Pompey demanded action be taken against the Potters and Begovic's agent by the football authorities after they snubbed a £3million bid.
Portsmouth were unhappy with the way Stoke hijacked Tottenham's bid to sign the 22-year-old Bosnian and felt the club should be punished along with the player's agent.
However it seems their dire need of money prompted them to accept an extra £500,000 put on the table from their Premier League rivals and the deal was pushed through just before the transfer window shut at 5pm.
