Collins eyes top ten
Stoke City, 13:25, November 17, 2009 ,
Stoke defender Danny Collins claims the Potters can continue their rise up the table by finishing in the top 10 this season.
The Staffordshire outfit finished 12th last season in their first year back in the top flight of English football for 23 years and after a steady start to the current campaign Collins believes the squad are capable of building on their recent success.
Stoke, who are currently ninth, could have been challenging for a European spot this year if they hadn't dropped five points when in winning positions against Wolves and Hull in the past two weeks.
Punters who are looking to use their Betfair free bet may fancy using it to back the Potters to get their bid for a top-10 finish back on track when they face Portsmouth on Sunday.
Collins believes Stoke are more than capable of a good finish this season and hopes the Potters will be able to end the season in amongst the big boys.
"Last year, it was all about staying in the league and you aim to build on that," Collins told BBC Radio Stoke.
"We're in the top half at the minute. Our aim is to finish in the top half and that will be a building step."
"Personally, I don't see why we can't finish eighth or ninth this year.
"Apart from the disappointment of the Hull game (a 2-1 defeat on 8 November) we've only lost to three of the big four teams.
"We've been doing the right things and beating the teams around us. If we get to Christmas in a good position, we can push for that top-half finish."
