Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant is vowing to fight for his place despite speculation linking the club with another wideman.

Pennant is determined to rediscover his best form next term to make it impossible for Potters boss Tony Pulis to leave him out of his starting line-up. The 29-year-old is well aware of Pulis' supposed interest in Matt Jarvis of Wolves but the former Liverpool and Arsenal man is adamant he isn't unduly concerned by it. Pennant believes on his day he is as good as any winger in the country and that increased competitions for places can only help to bring the best out in him. The ex-Real Zaragoza star told his followers on Twitter: "Pre-season is here and no matter what winger we buy they will not cross a ball like me. "I'm rolling up socks and sleeves and going for it." Pennant has made over 50 appearances for the Potters since joining from Zaragoza in 2010, following a successful loan spell and has scored three times.
