Midfielder winning fitness race
Stoke City, 15:48, May 8, 2009 ,
Liam Lawrence appears to be winning his battle to be fit for Stoke's big clash with Hull at the KC Stadium on Saturday.
The 27-year-old has been hampered by a hip problem all week and has barely trained ahead of the game against the Tigers.
However, the midfielder, who has missed much of the season with an ankle injury, has revealed he has made good progress in the past few days and is hopeful he will be able to line up against Phil Brown's side.
He said: "I went to cross a ball in training on Tuesday and jarred my hip. I've had treatment for the last couple of days as well as going swimming.
"It is settling, but slowly. But hopefully, if I carry on doing the right things, I will be ok."
Potters boss Tony Pulis has a doubt over key striker James Beattie but he, too, is expected to be fit as Stoke look for the win that would secure their Premier League status for next season.
