Stoke have opened talks with Jamie Ness and hope to wrap up a deal in the coming days after he walked away from Rangers.
The Potters have been strongly linked with a move for the 21-year-old midfielder who will be a free agent after deciding not to transfer his contract to newco Rangers, but now it has been revealed talks have taken place.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis has already met with the player and personal terms are thought to have been agreeed. Ness still has to undergo a medical but it looks as though the move is virtually in the bag.
One problem for Stoke is the fact that newco chief executive Charles Green has vowed to seek compensation and is taking legal action and that could hold up the move.
However, PFA Scotland believe all players who have opted to walk away are free agents and have asked the football authorities to release their registration from Rangers, so a deal should eventually go through.
