Pennant downplays injury fears
Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant picked up a knock in the FA Cup final but hopes to be fit to face Manchester City on Tuesday.
City managed to grab a 1-0 win at Wembley on Saturday as the Potters suffered FA Cup final heartache but Stoke will get their chance of revenge on Tuesday as they travel to Eastlands in the Premier League.
Pennant picked up an ankle knock in the final defeat but the former Liverpool and Birmingham winger is optimistic that he will be able to face City on Tuesday.
"It's a little bit swollen," said Pennant.
"It's going to be sore but we'll see if I'm fit for Tuesday."
Stoke will be involved in the Europa League next season despite their final defeat as City have qualified for the Champions League.
Pennant admits losing the final is a blow but the Potters star is proud of his side's achievements this season and is looking forward to a run in Europe in the 2011/2012 campaign.
He added: "We're eighth at the minute in the league. That would be a great achievement in itself.
"Obviously, now getting into Europe and in the final as well. Full credit to us for getting here."
Stoke will enter the Europa League in the third qualifying stage and will play the first-leg of their qualifying fixture on July 28.
